Hey, Boss. I've got a line on a really juicy opportunity out on Electra, but I need to check it out in person to be sure. Think you could authorize taking a little detour?

Introduction[ | ]

Upon arrival at the planet Electra, Yang will reveal that he is planning a heist. A white collar criminal named Mitchell Graves has a number of mint condition BattleMechs in a showroom collection, and Yang has plans to liberate them. Graves is currently distracted by a rival, Wallo, who outbid him on vintage Griffin parts. Should the player's company capture Wallo's hangar and then leave it defenseless, Graves would be tempted to leave his own collection unguarded in order to steal the vintage Griffin parts.

Mission 1[ | ]

Wallo's got a mercenary company on retainer to protect his private aerospace hanger, the imaginatively named 'Security Solutions, Inc." I looked them up, and they're the real deal - they've got combat vehicles, BattleMechs, the works. But we'll have the element of surprise on our side, given that Wallo's never heard of us. That's something, right?

Capture Base mission - Desert Biome - 2.5 skull difficulty - No tonnage restrictions

Objectives[ | ]

  • Scout The Hangar
  • Pacify The Area Around Wallo's Hangar
  • Capture Wallo's Hangar With Friendly 'Mechs
  • Destroy Enemy Reinforcements

The player's initial approach will be unchallenged. However after stepping a mech inside the capture area, reinforcements will be dropped just outside the walls to contest the capture. These reinforcements will be a partially randomized mix of between one and two light 'Mechs, a single medium 'Mech, and a single heavy 'Mech. The walls around the hangar can provide some protection from direct fire weapons if needed, but if the player has a full set of heavy/assault 'Mechs then they can simply hammer away at the reinforcements without too much concern for tactics.

Once the last enemy goes down, Sumire will confirm that Graves has started to move toward Wallo's hangar. Wallo will contact the mercenaries to express a few confused thoughts and veiled threats, but he can offer no further resistance at the moment. Shortly thereafter Yang will call in to confirm his infiltration and offer the player a choice: they can steal lighter 'Mechs and try to run for it, or they can take heavier 'Mechs and try to blast through any opposition.

Mission 2 (steal a lighter lance)[ | ]

Okay, Boss! We've got the hot rods, and we're on our way to the LZ. Did I mention that I still hate rumble seats? Boy, do I ever! You'd better get on the comms to guide us through this - we're moving at a solid clip, but I suspect we're being followed...

At the start, four light 'Mechs will oppose the player. They must be destroyed to proceed further with the mission. Later three reinforcement 'Mechs, typically one light and two medium, will arrive to join the fight. Sprinting past the reinforcements into the evac zone is possible if the starting fight heavily damaged your stolen light lance, which consists of:

Unfortunately after the mission ends, Wallo will return in a heavily armed dropship and threaten to blow the player's team out of the sky. He will eventually demand three of the four stolen 'Mechs as compensation, so the player will have to chose which one of the four they wish to keep. The flashpoint ends with the rewards of the remaining stolen 'Mech alongside a few pieces of rare equipment/salvage.

Mission 2 (take the heavy lance)[ | ]

Okay, Boss! We've got the monster trucks, and we're slugging our way to the LZ. Did I mention that I still hate rumble seats? Boy, do I ever! You'd better get on the comms to guide us through this; we're trudging along at a steady pace, but we're about to have company...

An initial security team composed of a medium 'Mech, a light 'Mech, and two vehicles will oppose the player. Running from them is not an option; they must be destroyed. After they go down a trio of medium 'Mechs will arrive as reinforcements. It is possible to sprint past them to the evacuation point if preferred. The stolen lance used by the player consists of:

Just as with the lighter version of this mission, Wallo will interrupt your successful heist and can only be bought off with three of the four stolen 'Mechs. The player will get to keep one of the stolen 'Mechs and some rare equipment/salvage as their final reward for the flashpoint.
